Back Forty Texas Roadhouse
Pleasant Hill, CA

Designed to provide entertainment as well as great Texas-style BBQ, the Back Forty restaurant is big, bold and rich with references to the old west.  The new 16,000 square foot restaurant was an adaptive reuse of a former concrete-walled sports club.  We converted the former bunker into a classic roadhouse complete with a central dining room, private party rooms, a second-story banquet facility and two full-service bars. Like many early century western buildings, the restaurant is built around a courtyard.  The courtyard, which allows for protected outdoor dining, was designed around an historic 200-year old Valley Oak tree.
