This new building, in a quickly transitioning Oakland neighborhood, was designed to promote environmental responsibility and take advantage of enhanced energy efficiency available through sustainable design strategies. The 41-unit property provides numerous ways to save natural resources such as dedicated car-share parking, bike storage lockers and bike repair stations. Most importantly, the design features a large photovoltaic shade structure which will produce enough energy to power all of the apartments. To add to the amenities, under the photovoltaic structure are a series of community spaces that open out on to decks and courtyards, providing dramatic views of the city. The project is currently in the entitlements phase.
